Elmhurst’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is recognized as the second largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the Chicago area. Featuring over 80 floats, marching units, Irish Dancers, the Medinah Clowns and a host of other organizations, along with our own York High School marching band, watch for LW Reedy’s contribution to the parade as we sponsor one of the most iconic events of the year. The parade steps off at Wilson Street and Spring Road at 12:00 pm and proceeds north on Spring Road to the train tracks. It’s fun for the whole family and it’s free!

Visit the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art and learn how to create your own jewelry with cut or rough stones using wire wrap, prong or bezel settings. Karen Davé and Pat Koko will help participants create their own pieces of jewelry to take home. Participants must be at least 12 years of age. The cost for the workshop is $25 each and runs from 1:00 until 3:00 pm. All materials are included. Reservations are required so please call (630) 833-1616.

Enjoy this masterpiece by Mendelssohn as performed by the Apollo Chorus of Chicago with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra. This performance features well-known vocal artists Gerard Sundberg, Kelsey Park, Michelle Areyzaga and Patrick Muehleise. Once again hosted by the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church at 149 W Brush Hill Road in Elmhurst, tickets are $32 for adults. Behind the Music Stand with Ted Hatmaker begins at 1:45 with the performance starting at 3:00 pm.

Take a different approach to Easter Egg hunting this year and dive into the Courts Plus Pool in search of treasure. Come to the pool at 3:30 pm ready to swim with a waterproof basket and towel. Especially for kids 11 to 16, this is a fun twist for those older kids who still want to believe in the Easter Bunny. Bring your favorite basket and a flashlight to Wilder Park a little before 8:00 pm so that you don’t miss out on the best treats. There is no fee and no registration required.

The Elmhurst Park District has activities planned all morning for your fans of the Easter Bunny. First up is an Easter Egg Hunt. Bring a basket for your goodies and a camera to record your visit with the Easter Bunny. The hunt starts at 10:00 am sharp. Don’t forget Fido. His turn comes at 10:30 am. After you’re done with the hunt, head over to City Centre where there are activities planned in the square. Welcome Spring with this fun celebration.
